Michael J. Booth (Ph.D.)

Sharing Skills and Experience

Michael received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry from The University of Sydney. He has applied his research, mathematical and computing skills for over 20 years in both commercial and regulatory spheres. Together with the DataBooth team, he is seeking to use his experience and skills to assist small to medium enterprises to unlock value from their data assets to grow their business and reduce costs. He is also keenly focussed on mentoring the DataBooth team.

Life-long learning

Five years ago Michael decided to enhance his skills and exposure to state-of-the-art data science tools, techniques and infrastructure. In late 2017 he spent two months in California to immerse himself in a Data Science bootcamp with The Data Incubator (TDI). He continues to invest in developing his skills and remaining current with the latest advances in data and analytics. Michael has worked in analytical roles in energy risk, quantitative funds management APRA, Westpac Banking Corporation, Commonwealth Bank Australia and ASIC.

Michael grew up in country New South Wales and believes that this gives him a natural approachability, combined with a sense of possibility. Michael is a very keen walker, coffee consumer and enjoys both short and long forms of cricket. The first computer he owned was an Apple II, where he started programming in BASIC. Michael volunteers at his local church.
